PDFs can be large for different reasons. Some contain compact text objects, while others store full-page scans or high-resolution photographs. ERITHRA’s PDF Compressor rebuilds the document using object streams. It does not downsample embedded images or offer a target file-size setting.
Make a measured trial
Choose one valid, unencrypted PDF no larger than 30 MB and containing no more than 100 pages. Keep a source copy, then select Create PDF. There is no quality slider because this operation is a structural rewrite rather than a configurable image-compression pipeline.
Compare the reported input and output sizes after processing. A smaller output is a useful result only if the document still behaves as required. Download it and inspect pages with tables, graphics, and unusual fonts, then test any essential interactive features.
If the result is the same size or larger, the tool reports that no reduction was achieved. Keep the smaller original when file size is your only goal. Running the output through the same process repeatedly is not a reliable way to obtain additional savings.
Interpret a size example correctly
Suppose a source is exactly 10,000,000 bytes and its rewritten copy is 9,000,000 bytes. The saving is 1,000,000 bytes, or 10 percent of the original. That is a measured outcome for this example, not a prediction for the next PDF.
Now suppose a scanned document’s output remains close to its original size. Because embedded images are not downsampled, this result is consistent with the tool’s scope. A dedicated PDF editor with image-resolution controls may be needed if the scans dominate the document’s bytes.
Check the receiving system’s actual allowance as well. A modest saving may still leave a file above an upload limit. Removing unnecessary pages can sometimes address that practical requirement without reducing the legibility of the pages you retain.
Preserve features that matter
All file processing stays in your browser. Rewriting can affect digital signatures, forms, bookmarks, and attachments. A signed original should remain available as the authoritative version; a rewritten copy should not be assumed to retain signature validity merely because the pages look identical.
Password-protected documents are unsupported, and damaged PDFs may fail to open. Do not interpret a failure as proof that the original file contains no useful content. Try an authorized clean export from its source application. Use PDF Page Remover for dispensable pages, or PDF Splitter to create a focused excerpt for the recipient.
