Convert feet and inches to a single metric measurement

Turn a six-foot length into meters, prepare mixed-unit measurements, and keep source precision visible in your result.

Normalize a mixed measurement first

The Length Converter takes one numerical value and one source unit at a time. It includes meters, kilometers, centimeters, millimeters, inches, feet, yards, and miles. A measurement written as feet plus inches needs to be expressed in a single unit before entry.

For instance, six feet two inches can be entered as 74 inches because six feet contributes 72 inches. Do not type 6.2 feet to represent six feet two inches: decimal tenths of a foot are a different quantity. Writing the intermediate calculation beside your source note makes this preparation easier to review.

Verify six feet in meters

Enter 6 in Value, choose Feet in From, and Meters in To. Select Convert / calculate. The expected result is:

6 Feet = 1.8288 Meters

Change To to Centimeters and the result becomes 182.88 Centimeters. For the earlier six-feet-two-inches example, enter 74 Inches and convert to Meters; the expected result is 1.8796 Meters.

The tool uses a consistent factor for each supported unit, including 0.3048 meters per foot and 0.0254 meters per inch. The conversion does not depend on your location or require a current network rate. The source label still matters when a document uses an unusual historical unit rather than the listed modern unit.

Avoid copying misleading precision

The display uses up to 12 significant digits. A detailed decimal expansion expresses the calculation, not the accuracy of a tape measure or a rounded product listing. If a shelf is specified to the nearest centimeter, preserve that practical precision rather than treating the converted number as a manufacturing tolerance.

Round once at the end of a longer calculation where possible. Repeatedly converting a rounded result back and forth can accumulate small differences. Keep the original measurement as the reference and state the target unit every time you copy a number.

Keep physical size separate from pixels

This converter handles length rather than screen pixels, page resolution, or image density. Converting a printed dimension into a pixel width requires an additional pixels-per-inch or pixels-per-centimeter assumption. Use Image Resizer only after that output resolution has been chosen.

Calculation stays in your browser, without sending the entered measurement to an ERITHRA processing service. If your task involves floor area or mass, Unit Converter provides those dimensions and checks that both selected units describe the same kind of quantity.
