Rotate or mirror images and verify the direction

Apply clockwise quarter-turns and flips, understand changed dimensions, and check text and orientation in the exported PNG.

A sideways scan and a mirrored photograph need different corrections. Rotation turns the whole picture; a flip reflects it. Before applying either, identify a reliable reference such as a written word, a horizon, or a feature whose original direction you know.

Choose the transformation

Upload JPEG, PNG, or WebP images and review the previews. The rotation menu offers 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees clockwise. For a simple upside-down picture, choose 180. A 270-degree clockwise turn gives the same final orientation as a 90-degree counterclockwise turn.

Choose None, Horizontal, or Vertical for the flip direction. To make only a mirror correction, choose rotation 0. A horizontal flip reverses left and right in the unrotated case; a vertical flip reverses top and bottom. Text provides an especially clear check because a mirrored word becomes difficult to read.

If you combine a flip with rotation, inspect the actual result instead of guessing how both coordinate directions interact. For a complicated correction, do one transformation at a time so you can evaluate each step. The exported image is PNG.

Follow the dimension change

Take a 1600 by 900 landscape image. Select 90 degrees clockwise and flip None. The output becomes 900 by 1600 because a quarter-turn swaps width and height. It preserves the rectangular picture rather than cropping it into the original landscape bounds.

For a second example within the same source, selecting rotation 0 and Horizontal keeps the 1600 by 900 dimensions but mirrors the composition. This is useful only if that reflection is intentional. It cannot correct a written label that was originally printed backward in the real scene without also mirroring everything else.

Compare the before/after thumbnails, then open the downloaded result to check orientation. A small thumbnail may make a face look plausible even when nearby text is reversed.

Apply batch settings consistently

The same rotation and flip apply to up to 20 selected images. Group files by the correction they need. Each must be within 20 MB and 40 megapixels, with a combined input/output limit of 100 MB. Download corrected files individually or in a ZIP.

Processing stays in your browser. Canvas export may remove metadata and color profiles, and animated inputs flatten to still frames. Retain the source before making further edits. Use Image Cropper to remove unwanted borders after rotation, or Image Resizer to set the final dimensions for a document or upload form.
