Create an ordered video chapter list from checked timestamps

Validate timestamp syntax and increasing times while keeping chapter labels tied to the final edit.

Chapter labels are useful only when their times match the finished video. The YouTube Timestamp Generator checks a list you supply and returns a clean, ordered text block. It does not watch a video, detect scene changes, or invent timestamps from chapter names.

Build the list from the final edit

Open the edited video in your usual player and record the start of each meaningful section. In Chapter times and titles, put one entry on each line, with a time followed by a space and a descriptive label. The interface suggests MM:SS Title or HH:MM:SS Title. Choose Generate result to validate the block.

For a short tutorial, try:

00:00 Introduction
01:20 Setting exposure
04:05 Comparing the exports

The parser interprets these times as 0, 80, and 245 seconds. They are strictly increasing, so the result preserves the three entries. Outer whitespace around the complete input and each line is removed. The output is plain text that can be copied or downloaded, not a change to any hosted video.

Understand validation errors

Each time must contain a leading group of one to three digits, followed by a two-digit component, with an optional third two-digit component. Components after the first must stay below 60. Thus 1:20 Setting exposure is accepted, but 01:80 Setting exposure is rejected. In a three-part time, both the minute and second components must stay below 60.

Every line also needs a nonempty title. A blank line inside the list fails validation rather than becoming a section separator. If two entries have the same time, or a later line goes backward, the tool asks for increasing times. Check whether you entered a minute as an hour before simply moving entries around.

Complete the publishing review

The result reminds you to start at 00:00. That is guidance rather than an enforced rule in this parser: a later starting time can pass its syntax check. The tool also does not validate video duration, chapter count, minimum chapter lengths, or other platform recognition requirements. Review those in the current publishing interface and play through the list yourself.

Chapter text is processed locally in the browser without fetching the video. Use labels that describe what actually begins at each time and keep unpublished personal details out of text you will share. Once the list is stable, combine it with resources in the Description Formatter. If you instead need an embedded player to begin at one specific point, use the Embed Code Generator, which takes a start value in seconds.
