A screen recording or background loop may need its soundtrack removed before sharing. Video Muter creates a new MP4 without an audio track. This is a complete soundtrack removal, so incidental conversation, narration, music, and useful sound effects all disappear together.
Prepare the silent version
Choose one video no larger than 50 MB. The tool accepts several common video containers, with actual decoding dependent on their internal codecs. There is no volume slider or interval field: the entire selected video is processed without audio.
Select Process media and keep the tab open. The video is re-encoded as H.264 MP4 rather than simply having its audio removed through a guaranteed lossless stream copy. The workflow also uses even pixel dimensions, so odd source dimensions may be rounded down.
First use downloads a roughly 32 MB engine. Processing runs in a single-thread WebAssembly worker in your browser. A short desktop workflow is more practical than a long high-resolution recording near the size limit.
Check a screen-recording example
Suppose a 30-second MP4 shows a software demonstration while a nearby conversation is audible. Process it with Video Muter. The new MP4 retains the visual timeline at approximately the same duration and contains no audio track from that recording.
Open the result in the preview and in your destination player. Confirm that the full demonstration is present, the video plays normally, and sound is absent. A player’s muted speaker icon alone is not evidence of removed audio; also make sure the player itself is not merely silencing an unrelated source during your test.
If the demonstration relied on spoken explanations, add suitable written instructions elsewhere before using the silent version. This tool does not create captions, separate a conversation from background music, or preserve only the sounds you like.
Review the rest of the content
Removing audio addresses only the soundtrack. It does not blur faces, hide notifications, redact screen text, or guarantee removal of every piece of metadata. Inspect the visible frames and keep the original privately when it remains useful.
All file processing stays in your browser, but it can use substantial memory and has a two-minute execution limit. Cancel processing is available. Damaged sources and unsupported codecs may fail, and output size reduction is not guaranteed even after audio removal.
Use Video Trimmer first if the silent copy needs only a short section. If you want to preserve the soundtrack separately before removing it from a delivery version, MP4 to MP3 can make an audio listening copy from a source that actually contains audio.
