Build a campaign URL with consistent UTM parameter names

Add source, medium, and campaign values while preserving the destination's existing non-UTM parameters.

Campaign URLs become easier to compare when everyone uses the same naming conventions. The UTM Link Builder adds the standard source, medium, campaign, term, and content query names to a destination you supply. It prepares a link locally; it does not connect to an analytics account or prove that a visit will be recorded.

Start with the final destination

Enter the full page address in Destination URL. Fill Campaign source, Campaign medium, and Campaign name. Use Campaign term (optional) and Campaign content (optional) only when they serve a defined reporting purpose, then choose Generate result.

The destination must be an HTTP or HTTPS URL without embedded credentials. Use the actual public landing page rather than a temporary editor or preview address. Decide on capitalization and separators before producing many links; the builder preserves the values you type instead of normalizing their case.

Inspect the query string with an example

Start with https://example.com/guide?lang=en. Enter source newsletter, medium email, campaign october-guide, and content header. Leave term empty. The result is https://example.com/guide?lang=en&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=october-guide&utm_content=header.

The existing lang=en parameter remains. The tool sets each UTM parameter by name, replacing an existing value of that name instead of deliberately appending another duplicate. If an optional term or content field is empty, the corresponding parameter is removed from the result even if it was present in the source URL.

Values are serialized through the browser’s URL query handling. A space may appear as +, and reserved characters may appear as percent escapes. That is expected URL encoding. Enter plain campaign text into the form instead of pre-encoding it, which can lead to another encoding layer.

Keep the reporting context outside the URL

Save the completed link alongside a short note explaining where it will be used. Distinguish placements with content values when that is part of your reporting scheme. Open the result to check that the landing page still behaves correctly with the added parameters.

The generator does not validate a campaign taxonomy, check tracking consent behavior, inspect redirects, or send a test event. A correctly constructed URL alone does not establish how any analytics service will attribute traffic. Avoid putting names, email addresses, credentials, or other private information into query parameters intended for distribution.

All URL construction happens in the browser. Use the URL Encoder/Decoder to inspect a single encoded component, or the QR Code Generator when the reviewed campaign URL needs a scannable representation.
