A slightly slower explanation can be easier to follow, while a faster listening copy can make familiar material more convenient. Audio Speed Changer adjusts tempo with a pitch-preserving filter. It aims to keep voices recognizable rather than simply shifting every frequency with playback speed.
Select a clear multiplier
Upload one supported audio file up to 50 MB. Set Speed multiplier between 0.5 and 2. A value of 1 keeps the original tempo, 1.25 requests faster playback, and 0.75 requests slower playback. Choose a modest change first, especially for music or rapid speech.
Select Process media. The output is a 192 kbps MP3, with video excluded if the input container includes it. There is no separate pitch control, speaker separation, or transcript synchronization in this tool. Any existing subtitle timings must be reconsidered elsewhere if the exported duration changes.
The browser downloads a roughly 32 MB engine on first use. Processing occurs in a single-thread WebAssembly worker, so keep the tab open and use a short source for a manageable first trial.
Calculate a duration example
For a 100-second source at multiplier 1.25, the expected duration is approximately 100 ÷ 1.25 = 80 seconds. At multiplier 0.5, the same source would last approximately 200 seconds. Encoded output timing can include small ordinary differences, so confirm the actual result in a player.
Listen to a passage with clear consonants and another with music or overlapping sounds. Pitch preservation does not guarantee an artifact-free result. Large changes can affect texture, rhythm, and intelligibility even when the speaker does not simply sound higher or lower.
If the result feels rushed, return to the original and try 1.1 rather than adjusting the already exported file. Keep trial versions clearly named so a faster copy is not accidentally used where the original timing matters.
Preserve the original context
This operation changes duration, not meaning. A faster copy of instructional or quoted material still needs enough context for the listener to understand it. It does not remove pauses selectively or identify which sections are safe to skip.
Files remain in your browser. Processing is memory intensive, has a two-minute execution limit, and can fail for damaged files or unsupported codecs. Cancel processing is available, and output size is not guaranteed to shrink. Use Audio Trimmer if only one passage needs a different pace. Audio Format Converter can provide another supported format after you have checked the tempo-adjusted result.
